Governor Bob Taft today announced an appointment to the Licking County Municipal Court.
Jennifer L. Chesrown, from Newark, was appointed Judge to the Licking County Municipal Court. Her term will begin Monday and run through the end of the year. She must stand of election in November and her likeyl opponent is local attorney Dave Branstool.
The 32-year old Chesrown is replacing Judge Thomas Marcelain, who was appointed to the Licking County Court of Common Pleas. She was chosen over Juvenile-Probate Magistrate Doug Sassen of Newark and Attorney Richard Wright of Glenford.
Chesrown is presently a Magistrate for the Licking County Court of Common Pleas. She began her legal career in the Licking County Prosecutor's Office as the Assistant County Prosecutor for the Adult Felony Division.
She then became a partner at the law firm of Jones, Norpell, Miller & Howarth in Newark. Most recently, she worked in the Office of the Clerk of Courts as the Chief Deputy for the Legal Division.
Chesrown is a member of numerous organizations and is an active member of her community. Most notably, she is a member of the Newark Rotary, a board member of St. Edward the Confessor Parish Council, and is a member of the Licking County Domestic Violence Task Force.
Chesrown received her B.A. degree from DePauw University and her J.D. degree from Case Western University Law School.
