After two failures of property tax levies, the Granville board of education is considering a school-district income tax as an alternative for additional operating revenues to balance its $15 million budget.
In addition to a third try at a property tax, the board is considering the option of a 0.75 percent school district income tax or a combination of an income tax and rollback of property taxes.
For the issue to be on the May 6th ballot, the board need to make a decision and have it to election officials by February 20th.
Due to the city’s wealth, a school-district income tax in Granville would generate more revenue there per any given percentage of tax, than in any other school district in Licking County.
