A Newark man is dead the result of injuries sustained in an industrial accident this (Friday) morning at the Owens Corning Plant in Newark.
Owens spokesman Frank Giovannelli says, the victim was 36-year old Charles Scott Laughery. The accident happened around 7:40am.
Newark Fire Department Medics rushed Laughery to Licking Memorial Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment in their trauma unit. Med Flight was unavailable due to adverse weather conditions. Laughery, a plant electrician, was doing maintenance on a large machine and was apparently caught up in the equipment.
Giovannelli says, Owens Corning Safety Investigators are on scene at the plant in north Newark. Also, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified, which is required whenever there is a workplace fatality. He adds, they will be working with OSHA to determine the cause of the accident.
