The northbound and southbound lanes of State Route 158 in Kirkersville were closed for about an hour Thursday after 100 bales of straw caught fire on a flatbed trailer.

Officials say a tire blew and the sparks caused the straw to go up in flames.

The driver, Michael Medors of Pataskala, didn’t even notice the fire until another motorist pulled up beside him to get his attention.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Firefighters with the West Licking Joint Fire District and the Basil Joint Fire District responded to the blaze.
