The Reynoldsburg school board has accepted the recommendations of Superintendent Stephen Dackin to remain a one-high school community.
Officials say when the new high school building opens on Summit Road in 2010, the building will serve as a second campus for the high school.
Residents had voiced concerns that splitting Reynoldsburg high school into two separate schools would divide the community.
Dackin’s recommendations also include helping the district develop a K-12 STEM program.
The program will offer specialized instruction in science, engineering, technology and math.
The program will be open to students in the district who have an interest in STEM disciplines.
The state has been supporting STEM schools to make students more competitive in the global economy.
The district is expected to begin planning for the STEM program immediately.
