COTC Autumn Quarter Financial Aid Priority Filing Date Nears

Wednesday, July 16, 2008 8:48 AM
Alice E. Hutzel-Bateson, COTC

entral Ohio Technical College’s (COTC) autumn quarter 2008 priority filing date for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is Friday, August 1, 2008.

The FAFSA must be completed by students and parents each year to apply for virtually all types of federal, state, or college-sponsored financial aid, including grants, some scholarships, educational loans, and work programs. By filling out and submitting the FAFSA, either online or on paper, applicants start the process of qualifying for aid.

It is important to note that even if the FAFSA is not completed by August 1 for COTC’s autumn quarter 2008, students may still apply for financial aid. However, aid may not be available to assist in the payment of tuition and fees by the stated fee payment deadline. Please note that students will need to file the 2008-2009 FAFSA for the autumn quarter 2008.

The Office of Financial Aid at COTC can help determine what type of assistance a student may qualify for as well as help obtain that assistance. Information from the FAFSA helps determine the expected family contribution using a formula designed by Congress. Because financial aid need varies with each student, the financial aid staff uses the FAFSA to determine financial need and to distribute limited funds to those students demonstrating the greatest need.

For more information regarding financial aid at COTC, visit www.cotc.edu/cotc/aid.asp or call the Office of Financial Aid at 740.366.9435. For more information on the FAFSA visit www.fafsa.ed.gov.
