Officials Looking into Train Derailment near Delaware

Tuesday, May 29, 2007 7:45 PM
WCLT News Staff

Officials are trying to determine what caused a Norfolk-Southern train to derail, scattering at least 24 cars across the tracks.

The derailment was reported north of Delaware near Radnor Road, between U.S. Route 23 and Troy Road around 4 a.m.

Homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution because a leaking propane tank was found nearby but no hazardous materials were on the train.

Video taken from newspartner to 10TVs news helicopter, showed a piece of the train track missing.

Investigators were checking whether the track was damaged before or after the derailment.
