A major last minute donation by Park National Bank has allowed the Captain Scott House near Alexandria to be saved.
Captain Scott House chair Donna Herring says the $5000 Park National Bank pledge allowed the Alexandria Community Council to sign the house mover’s contract and meet the ODOT deadline of Friday.
Preparation to move the house that sits at State Routes 161 and 37 is expected begin next week.
Herring believes the house will be moved around the first week of April.
An estimated $18,000 is still needed to be raised in the next month to complete the relocation phase of the project, but the historic Victorian home is no longer in danger of demolition.
