The Licking County Port Authority will lead a contingent of leaders to meet with both local Congressman and Ohio’s U.S. Senators in Washington D.C. Thursday

“We’ve got a public/private contingent that represents Boeing, Bionetics, Goodrich the Port Authority as well as Heath Mayor Johns and County Commissioner Tim Bubb joining us," said Port Authority Director Rick Platt. "The door is open from our members of Congress and our Ohio delegation. They want to meet these folks.”

Platt talks about the goal of the trip

“Encourage them to take a statewide focus and really get the entire Ohio delegation working as one force to fight for aerospace and defense issues in Ohio.”

The group has made the trip to D.C. for four years and has some success stories.

“Air Force was looking at redirecting funding that would have meant the loss of workload, the loss of jobs and loss of funding for the aerospace center in Heath," Platt said. "We were able to get Congressional help to send letters, make inquiries that helped to reverse both of those funding crisises (sic).”
