A Nashport man has been sentenced for assaulting a Licking County Sheriff’s deputy working special duty.

Officials say 25-year-old Charles Redman pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of assault on a peace officer in Licking County Common Pleas Court.

Officials say the deputy was working special duty at Captain Woody’s Bar and Pub in Thornville on August 1st when Redman did not comply with orders from the deputy.

Redman allegedly got into the deputy’s face in an aggressive manner after being asked to pick up a beer can he threw up in the air.

A physical alteration then ensued and Redman pushed the deputy into a door and ultimately onto the ground.

After being ordered several times to let go, Redman refused and he was hit with the taser twice.

Redman was sentenced to two years of community control
