Earlier this year, the Licking County Commissioners made a move to increase safety at the County Court House by only having one entry point.

Commissioner Tim Bubb says they moved on the recommendation of the State Supreme Court.

“The Supreme Court has a security team that has more than once come over and has been asked by the judges to evaluate Court House security in Licking County and the answer that came back was, ‘you're way too open’.”

Bubb says another issue has been the banning of cell phones at the Court House because some people can be retaliatory

“People who want to come in and monitor a jury, take pictures or jurors, judges or witnesses. They can use a number of things, live and in real time to access whoever and whatever is going on in the Court House.”
