A western Licking County police department is moving to a new location.

Officials say the Alexandria Police Department is moving to downtown Alexandria to the village offices located at 4 West Main Street.

Due to budget concerns, village council is at looking shutting down their Granville Street building which currently houses the police department.

Council is anxious to get all offices moved into one location in order to save money on operating two buildings.

There are no plans yet for the Granville Street location.
