Residents living near Philo, southeast of Zanesville, were jolted Saturday morning when the recently completed Rocky Mountain Express natural gas pipeline exploded.

About 50 were evacuated for a short time.

The pipeline runs from Colorado to eastern Ohio. There also was a leak south of Columbus last week.

Both times crews got the line shut-down safely.

Saturday's blast was near the Chandlersville Compressor Station, but it was not damaged.

The pipeline was built during the last five years. Construction was completed recently.

The pipeline has been fully operational since Thursday.
