Late Thursday night, fire departments from several departments battled a house fire in the Centerburg area of southwest Knox County.

Central Ohio Joint Fire District Chief Joe Porter says one man did die in the fire on Oliver Road.

“We pretty much went on the defensive until we could get a water supply established. With the construction of the building and the way it was burning, it was pretty much gone when we got here.”

The man has been identified as 47-year-old Jeffrey Hurst but an official cause of death has not been determined.

No other information has been released in regards to the 11 p.m. fire but officials are calling the blaze suspicious in nature.
