An elderly woman is dead following a crash in Fairfield County Tuesday afternoon.

The State Patrol says 73-year-old Barbara West of Carroll was hit as she tried to cross State Route 188 at Delmont Road near Amanda by 46-year-old Lanette Tipple of Lancaster.

Tipple was sent to Fairfield Medical Center where her condition is not known.

The 4 p.m. crash is under investigation.
