A local school district may ask to waive the new all day kindergarten requirement for one year.

Officials in the New Albany –Plain Local School District say it could cost just under $3 million to move forward with plans for all day kindergarten.

Many of the school board members were in favor of asking for the delay.

One option included purchasing and installing modular units to house students.

Included in the $2.9 million plan is adding eight teachers, three aides, one custodian, dean of students among other staff.
