In its weekend edition the Wall Street Journal is reporting that a multi-billion-dollar natural gas pipeline crossing Ohio is nearing completion.
The $6.7-billion pipeline stretches across the Zanesville and Philo areas, pumping up job creation without using any federal stimulus dollars.
The REX project, as it is called, was started in the Colorado Rockies four years ago, and it now nearing completion in eastern Ohio at Clarington.
A $35-million compressor, in job-starved Muskingum County will increase pressure to supply customers through the cold winter months in the midwest and northeast US.
REX has created 10,000 jobs, and 27-million man hours for workers across the eight-state region.
The project has also helped the motel business along I-70 in eastern Ohio, creating multi-month stays for hundreds of workers. The owner of two Comfort Inns says his business is up at least 10%, while the hotel-motel business across the country is down about 10% to 15%.
Workers had to take down trees at night near Philo, to avoid disturbing the endangered Indiana Bat. The bats don't roost in Ohio during warm summer nights.
Back on August 4th, the Muskingum County Commissioners named that day..."Rocky Express Pipeline Economic Stimulus Day".
It is the largest energy creation project in America in 25-years.
