Several area events are planned to coincide with the National TEA Party over the July 4th holiday

TEA stands for Taxed Enough Already and is a reference to the Boston Tea Party.

Organizer Brigitte Thomson says Saturday a rally will be held at 1 p.m. at the Gazebo in downtown Newark.

“The purpose of it is to celebrate our country’s independence and also to talk about limited government as it’s defined by the US Constitution and how it relates to some of today’s legislation that is coming up for a vote and how it is being pushed through Congress and the Senate.”

Another event is planned from 6 to 8pm at Putnam Landing in Zanesville.
