|Gough Will Spend 6 Years in Prison|
A Newark teen will spend six years in prison after he fatally shot his best friend last August.
19-year-old Thomas Gough Jr. was convicted on a charge of reckless homicide and could have received up to 8 years behind bars.
Newark police found 17-year-old Christopher Grooms with a gunshot wound to his head when they responded to a South Chalfant Street home on August 26th.
Gough told police that he didn’t think the gun was loaded when he pointed it at Grooms and pulled the trigger.
Gough fled the scene after the incident, but was tracked down by K-9 units a short time later.
Grooms was pronounced dead at Grant Medical Center the following day.
