GMP Local 244 and Owens Corning have agreed to extend their current contract for another week.

244, which represents more than 550 of 700 workers at the Newark plant, will vote on a three year contract proposal March 17 and 18.

The latest contract proposal was rejected by 35 votes earlier this week.

Owens Corning has reported low sales and instituted furloughs for workers last year.
