A western Licking County elementary school is working to control an outbreak of scabies.
Officials say Oregon Elementary in the Johnstown-Monroe School District has received assistance from the county health department in dealing with the contagious skin infection.
Nurses from the health department were on site at the end of February.
Several first grade students had scabies. Parents who suspect their child may have scabies are encouraged to call their doctor and let them know about the outbreak.
Students are allowed to return to school after completing the treatment.
