A 1985 River View High School graduate and his wife have been sentenced in connection with charges in their son’s death in North Carolina.

Officials say Brice and Sandra McMillan were arrested in June 2008 after their 13-year-old son, Tyler, died after being tied to a tree for what they said were disciplinary reasons.

Sandra has been sentenced to a max of 16 years in jail while Brice a max of 13 years in jail.
